Hydro-Québec announces its third quarter 2004 results:
Net income of $314 million
For the first nine months of 2004, Hydro-Québec posted net income of $1,789 million, up from $1,472 million for the same period last year. This $317-million increase can be explained largely by the gain realized on the sale of the company's interest in Noverco.

Hydro-Québec Distribution tabled its 2005-2010 Energy Efficiency Plan today for approval by the Régie de l'énergie. Hydro-Québec Distribution’s investments under the plan will reach $1 billion, or 4 times more than the previous plan. "All in all, our customers will save close to $1 billion on their electricity bill between now and 2010 with the implementation of this plan," said André Caillé, President and Chief Executive Officer of Hydro-Québec.

Hydro-Québec Distribution today issued a call for tenders to meet the long-term electricity requirements of its Québec customers under the Electricity Supply Plan. This call for tenders is for an initial block of 350 MW from the 800 MW of cogeneration authorized by the Québec government's order-in-Council and as recommended by the Régie de l'énergie in its report on the energy security of Québecers. A second call for tenders will follow according to the requirements of the Québec market.

$148-million increase in net income
For the six months ended June 30, 2004, Hydro-Québec posted net income of $1,475 million, compared with $1,327 million for the first six months of 2003. This increase arises mainly from the sale of the company’s stake in Noverco on June 30 and the reduction in financial expenses. These two factors offset the $506-million decrease in operating income, which amounted to $2,208 million for the first six months of the year.

Wind Power Call for Tenders from Hydro-Québec Distribution: average total cost of bids is 10 cents/kWh
Hydro-Québec Distribution has done a preliminary analysis of the pricing formulas in the bids received in response to the call for tenders for the purchase of 1000 MW of wind power. The average price of bids, including the cost of transmission and power balancing, is 10¢/kWh in 2007, increasing with inflation thereafter.
