Hydro-Québec announces its third quarter 2004 results:
Net income of $314 million
For the first nine months of 2004, Hydro-Québec posted net income of $1,789 million, up from $1,472 million for the same period last year. This $317-million increase can be explained largely by the gain realized on the sale of the company's interest in Noverco.

Ambassador Yves Gagnon will present the ACFAS Award in the Life Sciences category to Mayra de la Torre Martinez, a native of Mexico.

Robert-Bourassa generating station celebrates 25th anniversary: commemorative ceremony to mark historic inauguration
On October 27, 1979, René Lévesque, then Premier of Québec, started up Unit No. 9 at La Grande-2, the first of eight generating stations commissioned in the James Bay region. The 25th anniversary of the commissioning of Robert-Bourassa generating station will be celebrated on Friday, October 29 in Radisson.

Energy Savings Equal to Consumption of 180,000 Households Hydro-Québec tables its new Energy Efficiency Plan, including investments of $1 billion
Hydro-Québec Distribution tabled its 2005-2010 Energy Efficiency Plan today for approval by the Régie de l'énergie. Hydro-Québec Distribution’s investments under the plan will reach $1 billion, or 4 times more than the previous plan. "All in all, our customers will save close to $1 billion on their electricity bill between now and 2010 with the implementation of this plan," said André Caillé, President and Chief Executive Officer of Hydro-Québec.

Hydro-Québec Distribution issues a call for tenders for 350 MW of electricity from cogeneration
Hydro-Québec Distribution today issued a call for tenders to meet the long-term electricity requirements of its Québec customers under the Electricity Supply Plan. This call for tenders is for an initial block of 350 MW from the 800 MW of cogeneration authorized by the Québec government's order-in-Council and as recommended by the Régie de l'énergie in its report on the energy security of Québecers. A second call for tenders will follow according to the requirements of the Québec market.

TM4 equips the QUARK, the latest Technology Demonstrator from Peugeot with its drivetrain
TM4 has developed and produced the QUARK drivetrain system for the latest automotive technology demonstrator from Peugeot. The QUARK will be on display starting on September 23, 2004, at the Peugeot stand of the Paris Auto Show. Hydro-Québec announces the results of its first six months:
$148-million increase in net income
For the six months ended June 30, 2004, Hydro-Québec posted net income of $1,475 million, compared with $1,327 million for the first six months of 2003. This increase arises mainly from the sale of the company’s stake in Noverco on June 30 and the reduction in financial expenses. These two factors offset the $506-million decrease in operating income, which amounted to $2,208 million for the first six months of the year.

Wind Power Call for Tenders from Hydro-Québec Distribution: average total cost of bids is 10 cents/kWh
Hydro-Québec Distribution has done a preliminary analysis of the pricing formulas in the bids received in response to the call for tenders for the purchase of 1000 MW of wind power. The average price of bids, including the cost of transmission and power balancing, is 10¢/kWh in 2007, increasing with inflation thereafter.

This Wednesday, Hydro-Québec Distribution publicly opened the proposals received in response to its Request for Proposals dated May 12, 2003 for the purchase of 1000 MW of wind-generated electricity. The proposals were opened in the presence of Samson Bélair / Deloitte & Touche in Montreal. A total of 32 submissions from 9 promoters were received, for deliveries from December 1, 2006 to December 1, 2011.

The rector of Laval University, Michel Pigeon, and the President and CEO of Hydro-Québec, André Caillé, today announced a Hydro-Québec donation of $12 million to Laval University. The donation, to be used to found the Institut Hydro-Québec en environnement, développement et société, will be paid out over the next ten years and will also serve to fund research chairs and scholarships. This is the largest donation that Laval University has ever received.
