Electricity Service Service Application and Contract
Your basic electrical service contract states the conditions under which Hydro-Québec agrees to supply you with electricity for a given period of time.
To make sure you get the best possible service under optimum conditions, it is necessary to estimate the power demand of your facility before connecting it to the power system.
In addition, some customers are required to provide a payment guarantee when applying for electricity service. For more details on this policy or to find out whether it applies to your company, click here.
To submit a service request, just contact Customer Services.

Your service application serves as a contract between you and Hydro-Québec. Depending on the applicable rate, it specifies the term, minimum billing demand, available power, voltage at the supply and metering points, how the electricity will be used, and any credits to which you may be entitled for voltage transformation.
The basic service contract may be supplemented by specific contracts related to
- the electricity supply, including current limit, contract power, and off-grid supply
- service charges, for example if the distribution system has to be extended or modified

Contract conditions
The person responsible for electricity consumed on the premises, whether rented or owned, must generally submit a written application to Hydro-Québec.
However, applications for non-domestic uses may be made verbally for service at 120/240 volts and 200 amperes or less, by contacting the Customer Services office in your region. In all cases, you remain responsible for the service contract until you cancel it. |
 |
Term
The term of the contract ranges from one day to one year.
To modify the term or any other aspect of your service contract, you must submit a new application indicating the changes to be made.
For each service application, you will be billed either new file charges or file administration charges, depending on whether or not you had a service contract with Hydro-Québec or another Québec distributor in the last five years. |
