Acrylique Weedon blazes ahead with infrared
When it was time to come up with a design for its equipment, Acrylique Weedon decided to call on Hydro-Québec experts. The company wanted to see whether it could use infrared heating to thermoform acrylic sheeting.
Tests helped find the infrared system that yielded maximum output on a minimum of energy. Thermoforming operations that once took ten to fifteen minutes a sheet now ran in four to five minutes, four sheets at a time!

Pelican International charts new waters
When it came time for Pelican International to upgrade one of its ovens, Hydro-Québec experts conducted a requirements analysis. They recommended electric infrared heating, especially for thermoforming polyethylene canoes.
The new system gave the boat builder clear improvements in precision and uniformity. As a bonus, Pelican International found infrared heating more energy-efficient than competing technologies!
