Novatech

Innovation pays off at Verrier Novatech

The Groupe Verrier Novatech had long bought part of its tempered glass from the United States. To increase output cost-effectively, the company wanted to temper glass itself.

Following the recommendation of Hydro-Québec experts, Verrier Novatech management opted for a continuous electric heat-treatment furnace-a first in Québec!

With this technology, the Verrier Novatech Group was able to increase production and quality while reducing costs and scrap. It now offers a wider product line at even more competitive prices!

System description

The furnace is equipped with electric infrared units that heat the core of sheet glass to over 540°C. Next comes the tempering process, which involves cooling the glass quickly (in 15 seconds) to 200°C by means of a compressed-air system.

Vitrerie April

Vitrerie April equips with latest to seize new markets

Vitrerie April set its sights on new business opportunities, which meant it had to phase in two new production lines.

After consulting Hydro-Québec experts, Vitrerie April acquired an all-electric mid-infrared/convection furnace for glass tempering and a mid-infrared furnace and autoclave for manufacturing laminated glass.

The two new systems gave Vitrerie April just what it was looking for to succeed in producing a broad range of quality products: very even heating and very tight temperature control.
