Image: Authorized Payment

Payments are automatic
With Authorized Payment, your bill payments are automatically debited from your bank account. There's nothing to do and no chance of late payment, as long as there's enough money in your account.

Not sure you'll have the money in your account on the due date? Here's something to consider: Many of our customers have arranged a line of credit with their bank, just in case there isn't enough in their account when payment is due. The interest rate on a line of credit is much lower than a late penalty.

Once you've applied, you'll receive a letter confirming that the Authorized Payment service has begun. Until you receive the letter, continue to pay any bills you receive in the usual way.

Some tips on getting the most out of Authorized Payment

  • If you move, you'll automatically get a new account number, so don't forget to notify your bank.

  • Similarly, if you change banks, branches or bank accounts, be sure to notify Hydro-Qubec by calling Customer Services.

  • If you have signed up for the Equalized Payments Plan (EPP), the amount automatically debited will change if your EPP installment is revised. Find out more about the Equalized Payments Plan.

Your bill says "Withdrawn" followed by the date of the debit. This date is 21 days after the date of billing (the due date is the same as with the other payment methods).

Be sure you have the money! Hydro-Qubec will be obliged to terminate your service if there are insufficient funds twice within 12 months.

Just call Customer Services for an application form.

Cancel anytime
You can cancel Authorized Payment at any time. If you move, the agreement will also be terminated, but you can sign up again with your new address simply by calling.

Something wrong?
Once in a very long while, a mistake may occur in an authorized payment (wrong account debited, for example). If it should, call Customer Services. The number is at the top right of your bill.
