To honor its business customers and promote their accomplishments, Hydro-Québec evaluates all of the projects carried out as part of its energy efficiency programs.

Business clients with at least one project that meets the eligibility criteria of a particular program and the five businesses with the highest number of Empower program projects qualify for a Citation of Excellence. The consulting partners who collaborated in the winning projects will also be recognized.

General eligibility criteria

The applicant must complete an energy efficiency project under a Hydro-Québec program and receive financial support from Hydro-Québec between January 1 and December 31, 2008.
The project must meet the specific eligibility criteria of the energy efficiency program of which it was a part.

Specific eligibility criteria

Empower Program for Building Optimization
- For new buildings, the applicant must rank among the seven businesses whose projects registered the greatest energy savings as compared to the consumption of the Hydro-Québec reference building.
- or
- For existing buildings, the applicant must rank among the top six businesses whose projects registered the greatest energy savings as compared to the consumption of the Hydro-Québec reference building.
- or
- The applicant must rank among the top five businesses that completed the projects with the highest number of energy efficiency measures, including at least one emerging measure, to enhance a building's energy consumption.
- or
- The applicant must rank among the top five businesses that carried out the most innovative projects.
Empower Program for Industrial Systems
- The applicant must rank among the top four businesses whose projects registered the greatest energy savings at the installation site.
- or
- Rank among the top four businesses that carried out projects that included several energy efficiency measures for a single system and which registered the greatest energy savings at the installation site.
- or
- Rank among the top eight businesses that carried out projects that included energy efficiency measures targeting the highest number of systems and which registered the greatest energy savings at the installation site.
- or
- Rank among the four businesses that carried out the most innovative projects.

Selection process

Hydro-Québec evaluates projects based on its own records and selects customers to receive an ENERGY WISE Citation of Excellence. The projects must have been carried out under a Hydro-Québec energy efficiency program and meet the eligibility criteria of that particular program. Hydro-Québec will also award a Citation of Excellence to the five customers who submitted and carried out the greatest number of Empower and Efficient Products projects.
