Life-support device in use at your address

If someone in your household uses a life-support device (respirator, dialysis machine, etc.), we recommend you take the following steps to prepare for a power outage:

  • Acquire an emergency power source and test it regularly.
  • Plan in advance for the possibility of transporting the person to the home of a family member or friend, to a care facility or to a hospital.

A doctor or a CLSC can also register the person with our Services à la clientèle department so that we can warn them in advance about any outages we are scheduling for maintenance. However, registering does not guarantee that power will be restored more quickly after a power failure.
