Power Transmission Projects
Agricultural fields, Colombourg sector in Macamic (Abitibi-Témiscamingue)
The mining industry is expanding rapidly in the Abitibi-Témiscamingue region. The load forecast for the coming years shows an important increase in electricity demand for this industry. The forecast also shows that the capacity of the 120-kV transmission system connecting Figuery, Palmarolle and Rouyn substations will be reached and exceeded in the near future. In addition, significant work must be done to reinforce the transmission system to maintain the quality and reliability of power supply to our customers in the area.
Hydro-Québec will extend the 120-kV double-circuit line by 18 km from Figuery substation to Palmarolle substation (circuits 1330 and 1491). Work includes dismantling the current junction of 120-kV double-circuit lines between Figuery, Palmarolle and Rouyn substations. Finally, it will install the necessary equipment at Palmarolle substation to connect the line extension. This work will ensure that Hydro-Québec can adequately meet customers' needs. Commissioning is scheduled for October 2014.
