In October 2004, following a first tender call for the purchase of wind power, Hydro-Québec announced the acceptance of eight bids totalling 990 MW.

To ensure safe, reliable transmission of electricity produced by the eight new wind farms, Hydro-Québec Équipement will do a great deal of work on the Gaspé transmission grid (special protection systems, telecommunications, lines and substations).

To integrate the planned facilities harmoniously with their surroundings, Hydro-Québec will conduct technical, economic and environmental studies within the study areas. The company will also hold information and consultation sessions with stakeholders and citizens.
