Visual simulation of Vaudreuil-Soulanges substation.
After holding public consultations and optimizing the project, Hydro-Québec TransÉnergie has received all the permits required to build the 120/25-kV Vaudreuil-Soulanges substation and its tie line in the municipality of Saint-Lazare. Upon completion, the substation will supply Saint-Lazare, Hudson and part of Vaudreuil-Dorion, while meeting the growing energy requirements of the Vaudreuil-Soulanges RCM.
The work, which will be done in two phases, is slated to begin in October 2008.
Phase I is the groundwork: clearing, earthwork and construction of the access road will take place in October and November 2008.
Phase II, civil engineering, will follow. The foundations will be laid, the control building put up and equipment installed between December 2008 and September 2009. Commissioning is set for November 2009.
The project will cost an estimated $29.7 million.
