Snow piling up? Stay away!

Piles of snow underneath power lines are a real hazard! And the bigger they are, the more dangerous.

No playing on them!

As winter goes on, there are more and more snowbanks, and children love to slide down them or build forts in them.

Children of all heights can conduct electricity, especially when they’re holding wet or icy hockey sticks or other playthings, like snowboards or toboggans. Everyone should always keep at least three metres away from power lines.

Snow piles underneath or close to power lines may be caused by repeated heavy snowfalls, snowplows or snowblowers. Keep an eye on any near your home, no matter how they got there.

Be careful! Warn your children and see to it that they play safely.

Enjoy a safe winter!

And don’t forget to clear the path to your electricity meter!

At any time of year, and especially in winter, you must keep the path to the meter accessible, clear and safe. There should be no snow blocking the meter reader’s way.

Your meter reader thanks you!
