Pin-based CFLs suitable
for use in ENERGY STAR
qualified fixtures

A wide range of ENERGY STAR® qualified lighting fixtures is now available for both indoors and outdoors, in styles for every taste.

Why choose them over conventional models?

Because of their features and benefits:

  • Reliability – They come with a two-year warranty, double the industry standard.
  • Durability – Compact fluorescent lightbulbs (CFLs) last 10,000 hours on average (three hours a day for nine years).
  • Performance – Light distribution is more even.
  • Savings – They use up to 75% less power than conventional fixtures.
  • Convenience – Fixtures usually come with bulbs included.

Dimmable fixtures are also available, as are ENERGY STAR qualified ceiling fans with built-in lighting, which are designed to circulate air more efficiently—keeping you comfortable as you save energy!

Make the most of a good purchase

Here are some tips to optimize your use of ENERGY STAR qualified fixtures:

  • Replace torchieres first, because they consume the most energy.
  • If you have a model with a built-in ceiling fan, use it in summer to cool the rooms you use most. In winter, run the fan in reverse at low speed to force hot air down towards the floor.
  • Install fixtures in hard-to-reach places to take advantage of the long service life of CFLs (10,000 hours on average).
  • If outdoor lighting is only used to light a path at night, opt for motion detectors with photosensitive switches.
