![]() Is it possible to develop a power system and still protect the environment? That's what kids will find out when they play Envirovolt. This game will get 9- to 12-year-olds interested in environmental sciences and hydroelectricity. Through five activities, they'll discover environmental issues related to power system construction and will have to find ways to reduce the impacts of building a hydroelectric dam and transmission and distribution lines. The end objective is to build an ideal power system: that is, one that causes the least possible disturbance to wildlife, plants and human beings. The kit is available to day camps and overnight camps as well as to teachers of elementary Cycle 3 (grades 5 and 6). To book a workshop with a facilitator, call the Club des Débrouillards in your area. To reserve a kit, call Johanne Isabel at 514 289-2211, ext. 4270 or e-mail her at isabel.johanne@hydro.qc.ca.
