Vegetation is too close to a medium-voltage line

Climbing plant + power line = DANGER

Sometimes vines or other climbing plants grow on Hydro-Québec poles. However, climbing plants near power lines and electrical equipment are extremely dangerous for anyone who comes near the pole, touches the plant or, worst of all, tries to pull it out. Climbing plants are full of sap and are excellent conductors. They therefore pose a risk of serious injury or even death.

Safety Warning

If there is a climbing plant within three metres of a transformer or a power line without an insulating sheath, don't touch the plant. Call Hydro-Québec. Only personnel authorized by Hydro-Québec can remove such plants. It is a delicate and dangerous operation.

Never place a climbing plant so that it will grow up a power line pole. In the long run, this will inevitably create a dangerous situation.
