Priority maintenance work on the Brossard distribution system

In recent weeks, Hydro-Québec representatives met with the city of Brossard to discuss the power outages in the sector and to explain the measures put in place to deal with the issue. Hydro-Québec is aware of the inconveniences caused by the service interruptions and is working to improve the situation as quickly as possible, with priority maintenance work on the distribution system already under way.

Priority work in target areas in Brossard

Do you live in one of the target areas?

After comparing the performance of the power grid in different neighborhoods, we noticed that homes and businesses in these areas experienced a higher-than-average number of outages in spring and summer 2022.

The six lines that supply these areas are aging and require more maintenance. Also, mature trees are growing close to and overhanging the lines, which increases the probability of an outage.

Progression of Hydro-Québec’s priority maintenance work

Hydro-Québec’s action plan to improve electricity service quality in Brossard includes:

  • An inspection of all of the area’s 56 overhead and underground lines
  • Preventive equipment repairs in areas M, N, O, R, S and T
  • Vegetation control efforts near the lines in areas M, N, O, R, S and T

Once the priority work is completed in these areas, preventive equipment repairs and vegetation control efforts will follow in the other areas of the city of Brossard.

Status of work on May 31, 2023 in the target areas

  • Inspection of overhead lines 100%
  • Vegetation control work 100%
  • Preventive repairs on the overhead system 100%
  • Preventive repairs on the underground system 60%
