The future of energy in Îles‑de‑la‑Madeleine: Building a new generating station
Project overview
In order to ensure the energy security of Îles‑de‑la‑Madeleine, Hydro‑Québec will build a new generating station on the archipelago by 2035.
The new generating station will be located on the same site as the current generating station. A sustainable solution, it will use a low‑carbon fuel to reduce the archipelago's greenhouse gas emissions, all while generating more electricity for the islands' households and businesses.
Several additional measures to reduce the amount of fuel used will also be implemented. From now until the commissioning of the new generating station, work to ensure the reliability of the current generating station's supply will take place over the coming years.
