Rapides-Farmer Generating Station

Nearby and natural

In the heart of the Gatineau Hills, just six kilometres from Hull, lies a monument in the history of the Outaouais: Rapides-Farmer generating station.

In operation since 1927, the station unlocks the secrets of the river, first used to transport lumber and then to generate hydroelectricity.

Examine a generating unit up close and look straight up to admire a 160-t rotor in action!

The station will astonish you with its unique facilities, including a weir that discharges water into the former bed of the Gatineau River.

Fascinating and historical!
