Annual Report 2021
Hydro‑Québec posted net income of $3,564 million in 2021 against a backdrop of economic recovery. This represents the best financial performance for continuing operations in its history, which will allow it to make its largest contribution ever to the province’s collective prosperity. The company will pay a dividend of more than $2.7 billion to the Québec government, its sole shareholder. These strong results are mainly due to buoyancy in all its markets, which drove net electricity sales to a historic high, and to a decrease in financial expenses.
- Contribution to the Québec government’s revenue: $4.9 billion
- Sales volume on the Québec market: 175.2 terawatthours (TWh)
- Net export volume: 35.6 TWh
- Exports’ contribution to net income: $865 million
- Major investments throughout Québec: $4.2 billion
