Governance is a complex notion that touches on the general structure of an organization and the measures it adopts to reach its objectives. The Hydro-Québec Act puts forth the various requirements the company must meet in terms of how it is run.
Transparency is a vital component that must remain at the very heart of corporate governance. In the interests of transparency, Hydro-Québec makes publicly available information regarding its Board of Directors, management team, subsidiaries, ethical practices, acts, regulations, policies and codes of conduct.
ISO Certifications
ISO 14001
The ISO 14001 certification
means that Hydro‑Québec upholds the highest standards in environmental management.
Prior to 1999, Hydro‑Québec had seven ISO 14001-certified systems. Beginning in 2017, these systems were integrated into a single environmental management system (EMS), which was ISO certified in 2018.
Note: The certificate expired on January 31, 2025. The recertification process, requiring an external audit, is currently underway with a new registrar to obtain certification in 2025.
ISO 37001
The ISO 37001 certification means that Hydro‑Québec upholds the highest standards in the fight against corruption.
Hydro-Québec’s anti-bribery management system (ABMS) is ISO certified since 2021.
