Conversion of the Cleveland-Waterloo line to 120 kV
Study area and environment
The study area covers 6 km2 within the municipalities of Granby and Shefford in the regional county municipality (MRC) of La Haute-Yamaska, as well as the municipality of Bromont in the MRC of Brome‑Missisquoi. The line runs between Cleveland substation in Granby, near exit 74 off Autoroute 10, and the tap line to Waterloo substation. The study area was selected to encompass all elements from the natural environment, the human environment and the landscape likely to be affected by the project.
Technical and environmental studies
In the coming months, Hydro‑Québec will carry out technical studies and detailed environmental inventories to identify the project’s characteristics and to better understand the host environment.
Once these studies are completed, the project team will be able to develop potential route variants that will be presented to the public. These variants will be subject to comparative analyses based on environmental, technical and economic criteria. From the beginning, and at every step of these studies, Hydro‑Québec will take the community’s concerns into account to determine the line route with the least impact.
