Refurbishment of Bryson Generating Station
Optimized solution

Refurbishment of the generating units
Bryson generating station has three generating units. The first was commissioned in 1925, the second in 1929, and the third, in 1949. To fulfil its mission as a power utility and ensure the long-term operability of its facilities, Hydro-Québec will partially refurbish the station’s three generating units.
The role of the turbine is to convert the energy of flowing water into mechanical energy that makes the generator spin. As it spins, the generator converts the mechanical energy into electricity. In hydropower plants like Bryson, this turbine/generator combination is known as a “generating unit.”
