In order to maximize the project’s economic spinoffs, Hydro-Québec has implemented various measures and activities, such as:
1.
Informing economic development agencies in the community whenever requests for proposals are published on its Suppliers website
2.
Working with economic development agencies to remind local suppliers to register on the Suppliers site to stay informed about requests for proposals in their area of expertise
3.
Familiarizing major contractors with the products and services of companies active in the region, by various means:
- Subcontracting fair
In cooperation with the Chambre de commerce et d’industrie du Haut-Saint-Maurice (CCIHSM), Hydro-Québec held a subcontracting fair on October 30, 2019, and another on September 2, 2020, to inform the business community and local businesses about the project and associated business opportunities, as well as to give contractors and potential subcontractors a chance to network via “speed meetings”.

Hydro-Québec encourages selected contractors to source goods and services locally:
- Heavy equipment
- Mechanical maintenance
- Materials such as granular materials, concrete, lumber for formwork, etc.
- Land and office space rentals
- Small-scale construction equipment rentals
- Accommodations
- Restaurants and catering
- Fuel supply
- Labor
Discussion meetings were held with representatives of the Ville de La Tuque and the Service de développement économique et forestier to determine how best to promote local short-term and long-term accommodations.
