Electrical system upgrade in Estrie

A reliable system and a sustainable future

Infrastructure nearing the end of its service life

Although the Estrie region has been well served by the power system for 130 years, the region’s high-voltage lines and substations are now operating at full capacity. To ensure the electricity supply in the region, the system needs an upgrade.

Duration : 3 minutes 9 seconds

Action required now

Because the power system in Estrie is operating at full capacity, the time to upgrade it is now. The region’s access to reliable, clean and renewable energy must be secured.

The growing demand can only be met through the system’s reinforcement. Regional development and the emergence of a greener economy also depend on an upgraded system.

Extensive facility upgrades

Many old facilities will need to be dismantled in order to upgrade the system, which will result in the reduction of the length of transmission lines and the elimination of half the substations in the region.
