Independent generation
An independent power producer is a company that uses its own equipment to produce or transform electrical energy for the purpose of selling it.
Independent power producers will have responded to a Hydro-Québec Distribution call for tenders as part of a power purchase program and been selected to install and operate a generating station under a power purchase contract.
Independent producers agree to sign a contract with Hydro-Québec under which the latter will supply them with emergency power through the connection point for the integration of their power production onto the Hydro-Québec system.
