Refurbishment of the Trenche facility
Project overview
We are working hard to meet the growing demand for our clean energy. Our strategy involves taking advantage of our current assets.
The Trenche hydropower facility, with an installed capacity of 302 MW, has provided clean energy since 1950. After 75 years of loyal service, the largest generating station on Rivière Saint‑Maurice will be refurbished to benefit future generations and provide even more energy to decarbonize Québec.
Unleashing greater power with modern upgrades
- By replacing the six generating units with more recent models, the generating station’s installed capacity will increase by about 15%, while keeping water levels and flow rates the same.
- Once the project to ensure the long‑term operability of the generating station is completed, we will perform rehabilitation work on the spillway.
