Energy-saving pumps

Because it operates at several speeds, an efficient pump (a two-speed or variable-speed model) can help you save approximately 80% on water filtration costs compared to a single-speed pump.

Because the pump is the heart of the pool, it’s important to choose it wisely.

Two-speed pump

The low speed of a two-speed pump makes it an efficient filter. If you replace your pump or install a new pool, remember that two speeds are better than one for optimal filtration!

Tips for use

  • Low speed is more economical and should be used most of the time. It filters water more slowly, with no loss of water quality.
  • High speed is recommended when cleaning the pool and when the pool is being used frequently or by a lot of people.

Recommendations

  • Choose a model that can be programmed to operate at each speed for set periods. They are easy to use and maximize savings.
  • Select an ENERGY STAR® certified model.
  • Maximize your savings by choosing an efficient pump that is suited to the capacity of the filter, the diameter of the inlet and the volume of water to be treated. A pump that is too big will lead to over-consumption!

Benefits

  • Cost-effective: In the first summer, your savings will help you recoup the purchase price of a two-speed pump.
  • Less noise: At low speed, the pump motor is quieter.
  • Peace of mind Programmable models are easier to use because there’s no need to change the speed yourself.

Note

  • Ask your pool retailer whether this type of pump is compatible with your setup (salt water system, chlorinator, ionizer, ozonizer, heater, etc.). An expert can also give you personalized tips on using your pump.

Variable-speed pump

This programmable pump optimizes water filtration for in-ground pools. It runs at several speeds, and it’s easy to select the one that works best for your pool.

The new variable-speed models offer advanced functions like smart control and automatic speed adjustment. They are also equipped with a Wi-Fi connection and a mobile app that makes it easy to change the settings remotely.

  • Durability: Longer service life than other pumps.
  • Savings: In less than three summers, the savings compared to a single-speed model will allow you to recoup the difference in purchase price.

  • Ask your pool retailer whether a variable-speed pump is compatible with your setup.
  • We recommend having your variable-speed pump connected by an experienced installer, who can also give you personalized tips on using the pump.
