Increasingly, hunting, fishing and trapping along with a return to traditional medicine are being perceived as solutions to a variety of problems: physical ailments, stress, alcohol and drug abuse, learning difficulties, dropping out, delinquency, etc. Moreover, growing numbers of “role models” for youth are emerging from Cree society. These may be top athletes (like basketball player Titus Channer from Waswanipi), politicians, businesspeople or young professionals. |
