inter-community relations

The Cree communities were relatively isolated from each other in the early 1970s; now they are connected by road, air, telephone, community media and many new organizations and regional administrative structures.

Each general assembly of the GCC (EI) and the CRA is held in a different community. In addition, competitions and sports tournaments create opportunities for people from different communities to meet. Some Crees believe that escalating inter-community contact has led to an increase in marriages between members of different communities. The arrival of the Internet also allows Crees to keep in touch with each other, especially younger ones.|

There are many signs of solidarity between communities, such as walks to combat diabetes and social problems. On the other hand, disagreements have arisen between trapline users from different communities, and between the communities themselves over the distribution of compensation funds related to hydroelectric developments.
