Collective contribution –
Overall results
When it’s cold out, everyone uses a lot of electricity at the same time, which puts a lot of pressure on the grid. This is what we call a winter peak.
At all times, and particularly during peak demand periods, we have to make a collective and individual effort to use less electricity. This is key to supporting Québec’s energy transition and helping to build a sustainable future for future generations.
Progressively transitioning away from the use of fossil‑fuel derived energy to clean and renewable energy for human activities.
Overall results for winter 2024‑2025
Many households and organizations significantly reduced their electricity demand all winter long. Let’s see how they’re efforts have paid off!
-
About 2,330 MW
Capacity for reduction in electricity demand per peak demand event
-
About 310,000
Equivalent number of homes based on the average power demand
Power a customer requires to meet energy needs at a given time. The higher the customer’s energy consumption at a given time, the higher the power demand.
-

Many organizations took steps to reduce their electricity use during peak demand events, whether through the DR Option or one of the interruptible electricity options. We are grateful for their invaluable cooperation!
