Rate D generally applies to domestic use, that is, electricity use in a home. It also applies to farms.
Rate DP generally applies to domestic use, that is, electricity use in a home, when the maximum power demand has reached 50 kW or more at least once during the last 12 monthly periods. It also applies to farms whose maximum power demand meets this threshold.
Maximum power measured during a consumption period. It is the higher of the following two values: real power in kilowatts (kW), or a percentage (90% for domestic rates and small- and medium-power rates, or 95% for large-power rates) of the apparent power in kilovoltamperes (kVA).
Period of 30 days, which may begin on any day of the month, established by Hydro‑Québec for billing purposes.
Rate DM applies to apartment buildings or community residences having multiple dwellings.
Rate DN generally applies to domestic use, that is, electricity use in a dwelling, when the electricity is supplied by an off-grid system located north of the 53rd parallel, except for the Schefferville system.
An “off‑grid system” is a power system not connected to Hydro‑Québec’s main grid.
Rate Flex D enables customers to save money in winter by shifting, at Hydro‑Québec’s request, their nonessential electricity consumption to outside peak demand events and using less electricity during those events. Rate Flex D generally applies to domestic or household use. It also applies to farms.
Rate DT applies to domestic use, that is, electricity use in a home, when the heating system uses two energy sources: electricity and a fuel. It also applies to farms that use a dual-energy system.
The Winter Credit Option allows customers to save during winter when they use less electricity than usual during peak demand events, at Hydro‑Québec’s request. This option is risk-free, because your electricity bill can only go down.
Under this option, customer-generators can feed their surplus power into the Hydro‑Québec grid in exchange for credits applied to their electricity bill. If the power they generate is not enough to meet their needs, customer-generators can draw power from the Hydro‑Québec grid and enjoy reliable, high-quality service.

A customer-generator is a Hydro-Québec customer who produces electricity using equipment they own and operate to meet part or all of their energy needs.
This option is designed for greenhouse growers who use all or part of the electricity supplied by Hydro‑Québec for photosynthetic lighting or space heating to raise crops. More specifically, it applies to Rate D, DP, DM, G, M, G9 and LG contracts where the electricity is used for the purposes stated above and the maximum power demand has reached 50 kilowatts (kW) during the last 12 monthly periods preceding the date of the sign-up request.
